Three Cabins
Queenstown
Situated on a steeply sloping site in Queenstown, the project brief called for a two-bedroom residence complemented by two independent sleepout units. The architectural response explores a composition of three distinct cabin forms, carefully positioned to respond to the challenging topography, maximise the spectacular alpine and lake views, and withstand the demands of the Southern Lakes climate.
The roof forms follow the natural fall of the land, creating low-profile silhouettes that sit comfortably within the landscape. Carefully considered glazing frames expansive views of the surrounding mountains and lake, establishing a strong visual connection between the interior spaces and the dramatic natural setting.
A restrained palette of durable materials, combined with simple, robust architectural forms, responds to the site's exposed environment. The result is a cohesive collection of contemporary cabins that balance resilience and functionality with warmth, comfort, and a strong sense of place.
