During the development of Stage 1 of the Stoke Community Focussed housing there was an opportunity for Habitat for Humanity to purchase the neighbouring site. This allowed us to expand the first stage and include an additional eight townhouses that would also benefit from the shared spaces offered in the first stage.

The house layouts follow a similar principle to Stage 1, with private courtyards to the back, and partially open entry courtyards to allow for greater connection and community.

We’ve been pleased with the outcome of this layout when visiting in the weekend. Children and parents gather in the shared spaces, while retaining enough privacy and their own space within the rear courtyards.

The houses are constructed with Formance SIPs panels, and include slab edge insulation, recessed doors and windows, and de-centralised mechanical heat recovery units to provide a comfortable and healthy living environment.
