Client: Tyndall and Hanham Limited
Project: AJ Hackett Bungy Viewing Platform Building, Queenstown

Our client was engaged to do the structural design for this building. The structure is partially buried underground and incorporates a large spiral access ramp from the car park down to the viewing platform level. The building also incorporates a large dome which houses an audio-visual display.

Because of the complexity and irregularity of the structure, DesignBASE was engaged to provide shop fabrication drawings. This allowed the structure to be fabricated and transported to site in large sections. We utilised our software to produce a 3D computer model of the entire structure. The fabrication drawings were produced from this model which ensured the structure when delivered to site would assemble accurately.

Client: Ravensdown Fertiliser Limited
Project: Limeworks Building, Balfour

After a fire that totally destroyed our client’s lime drying facility, we were immediately commissioned to design a replacement building. Time was of the essence as the facility had to be operating as soon as possible to keep up with supply and demand.

DesignBASE were onsite within two days of the fire undertaking site measurements. To reduce the fabrication time, we decided to detail the structure to a shop fabrication stage. The project went well with a compressed time frame from design commencement to the plant being operational again.

Client: R & V Glendinning
Project: Beach House / Bed & Breakfast, Curio Bay

Our architectural division designed this luxury Beach House / Bed & Breakfast to be constructed on the beach at Curio Bay in the Catlins (Southern Scenic Route). The building structure consisted of precast concrete exterior wall panels with an interspan flooring system at the first floor level.

With DesignBASE also being commissioned to do the structural design, it kept the total design package in-house. This made communication between the architectural and structural designers seamless.
