AIR NEW ZEALAND 747

Client: Air New Zealand Technical Services
Project: Boeing 747 Interior Upgrade Project (2005)

When Air New Zealand upgraded the interior of their 747 fleet, we were chosen to produce detailed drawings for the many components needed for the lockers and modules designed for the refit. Our 3D modelling systems are 100% compatible with Air NZ systems which allow us to work together seamlessly. This aided in the ability to meet tight time constraint deadlines. Specialist materials were used and all measurements had to be in imperial to meet the American standards used by Boeing. Air NZ communications manager Rosie Paul said DesignBASE was selected for its software compatibility and ability to deliver on Air NZ requirements.

Client: Smith and Loveless (NZ) Limited
Project: Liverpool STP 9 Stage 4(a) Upgrade, Sydney, Australia

In 2003, our client won the contract to supply and install the Wastewater Grit removal equipment for the Liverpool STP 9 Upgrade in Sydney, Australia. The equipment comprised of two Grit Concentrators, two Grit Classifiers and associated Screw Conveyors. Our involvement was in producing the installation general arrangement drawings of the Grit Classifiers and Screw Conveyors, as well as detailed fabrication drawings for the Screw Conveyors.

Client: Baker Cranes Limited
Project: Nelson Pine Industries LVL Crane, Nelson

Our client designs and manufactures a variety of overhead gantry cranes. In 2001, they won a contract to design and supply the overhead gantry crane for Nelson Pine Industries LVL (Laminated Veneer Lumber) facility. This crane was supplied with a hydraulically actuated billet grab that is raised by hoists mounted on the cranes main girders. When the grab is lowered into position over a billet, the grabs twelve forks located under the billet are rotated by 90 degrees to capture the billet prior to lifting. Our engagement was to provide detailed CAD drawings for the project.

Client: McCoard Screening Systems
Project: Mobile Roll Crusher & Screening Plant, Oamaru

In 2002, Parkside Quarries engaged our client to design and build a Mobile Roll Crusher and Screening Plant for their operation. Over a period of time Parkside Quarries has generated a large surplus of reject or damaged limestone blocks. The proposed Mobile Roll Crusher was supplied to crush and screen these damaged blocks so that the fines produced could be used for fertiliser. Fines produced straight off the crusher could be put directly onto paddocks, and any larger product would then be crushed again and dried in a drying chamber. Our client engaged us to carry out the entire CAD detailing for the project.

Client: McCoard Screening Systems
Project: Mobile Crusher, Te Anau

In 2003, Carran Scott Contracting engaged our client to design and build a retro-fit hopper/feeder and discharge conveyor system for a newly imported Mobile Crusher. The crusher is to be used for crushing river gravel. Because of transportation regulations, the entire feed system had to be redesigned to bring the unit to within an acceptable overall height, and still function at an optimum level. A new discharge conveyor was also needed which conveyed the crushed product to a radial stacker. Our client engaged us to carry out the entire CAD detailing for the project.

Client: Lumsden Hatcheries Limited
Project: Ostrich Egg Rotator Racks, Lumsden

Our client operates a large ostrich meat export business. They are involved in breeding and farming, through to the exporting of ostrich meat to overseas markets. For their hatchery expansion they required a system to intermittently rotate the ostrich eggs whilst in incubation. They also needed to be able to load the eggs in the egg receiving area of the plant and transport them into incubation rooms. The equipment had to be optimally designed for space restrictions. We found the solution was to design a trolley that contained multi-tier racks to hold the eggs. Each rack could contain 100 eggs, with 5 racks per trolley. All of the racks are driven by a common drive unit.

Client: Rayonier MDF New Zealand Limited
Project: Various Projects, Mataura

Our client manufactures Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF) at their plant near Mataura. DesignBASE started providing design and draughting services to them in 1999 and continues to on a daily basis. During this time we have worked on a variety of different projects including work on the press line as well as other material handling projects. Through non-disclosure we are not permitted to discuss details about specific projects.

Client: Dyno New Zealand Limited
Project: Product Catalogue, Invercargill

Dyno New Zealand Limited manufactures modular conveyor systems. They required a product catalogue that would be used by their agents. The catalogue was to contain information about all their components including illustrations, dimensional details, part numbers and options. DesignBASE was engaged to produce 3D illustrations and page layouts for the catalogue. All components were measured prior to computer modelling and producing the illustrations.

Client: Smith and Loveless (NZ) Limited
Project: Wastewater Clarifiers

Our client manufactures and installs a range of wastewater clarifiers into sites throughout New Zealand and Australia. These clarifiers are supplied in many different configurations. Generally the units have either a fixed bridge with a central drive that rotates the central shaft and scrapers, or alternatively the bridge will rotate with a peripheral drive unit. All components are detailed thoroughly for fabrication and preassembled using our computer software. This ensures seamless installation without any delays.

Client: Mectec Limited
Project: Jumbo Strap Reel Dispenser, Invercargill

Our client undertook a design/build project for the manufacture of a strapping machine strap reel dispenser that dispenses large steel strap reels. This device incorporates a lifting hoist for loading the reels. With the ability to use larger reels it reduces the amount of human intervention required in the strapping process. DesignBASE was engaged to provide detailed fabrication drawings
