Client: Yamba Welding & Engineering, NSW
Project: OC 9000

The MV Ark is a Glen Davis design, built by Yamba Welding & Engineering in NSW. DesignBASE were commissioned to do the 3D computer modelling and provide the construction cut files.

The boat is owned by the Sydney Aquarium. It's used as a work and dive boat to collect marine life for the aquarium and to release marine animals back into the sea. The boat operates year round from the aquarium's base at Darling Harbour.

Client: Stabi-Craft Marine
Project: 559 Fibreglass Cabin

Here is a fine example of how fibreglass can be used to add style to an alloy boat. The 559 is the second model that Stabi-Craft have utilised fibreglass on. The ability in achieving "organic form" was simplified with design input from DesignBASE.

DesignBASE were responsible for the creation of the 3D computer model, from which the plug for a mould was CNC machined. The mould was then used to create the production cabins. The use of 3D computer modelling ensures the fibreglass cabin matches exactly to the aluminium hull, which cut-files for such were also produced by DesignBASE.

Client: Southport Ltd
Project: Monowai Fender Replacement

The Monowai tug required a new fender to be fitted however the requested diameter was too large for the existing. Provisions were made to accommodate the tightest possible bend. This was achieved by fabricating the substantial support structure as pictured.

DesignBASE used 3D modelling software to accurately reproduce the contours of the Monowai. This ensured a neat fit of the new steelwork to the existing stern.

oject: 14m Delphindae

Delphinidae is owned and operated by Dolphin Encounter®, Kaikoura. The vessel is a 14 metre mono hull, built in Invercargill by Stabi-Craft Marine. It is powered by a 680HP Volvo diesel motor and has a cruise speed of 22 knots. This vessel takes 13 swimmers and up to 17 spectators. On board facilities include a toilet and deck shower.

DesignBASE created the cut-files required to build the boat, which were produced from a highly accurate 3D computer model.
